It is still surreal….I sent my daughter, my chubby, little Ellie to Kindergarten today.  Where did 5 years go?

I remember shortly after I got home from the hospital looking at her in awe and thinking “Jen, take it it…Freeze these moments in time, because before you know it, they’ll be gone.” 

Isn’t that the truth…

Here are 2 pictures from this morning. The one is a little out of focus, but I love it too much not to share. I’ve also put together a video slide show for my husband to was crushed (which is so cute) that he wasn’t here for this monumentous day that I’ll post when I figure out how.

They joy’s of having a puppy…the licking, the shedding, the peeing, the chewing, the pooping….Wait, why did we get a dog?  Oh, because of the laugh out loud kind of joy he brings to our family.  Every single annoying, terrible thing this dog has done has been worth it when I hear Ellie belling laughing so hard she almost pee’s her pants.  He’s part of the family, he’s an Eligh and good ol’ mouthly Frank just turned 1.

I can not believe that my child is about to start Kindergarten, which means I will have a school ager.  I swear that just last week she started walking, started talking & then, started talking back… How time flies.

I was handling this all pretty well until today.  Today I read the parents manual and cried for about and hour.  To think, my baby will walking the halls alone, building independence and responsibility.  Asking for the hall pass to get a drink of water, or to go use the bathroom.  To think, my baby will be in school.  It is so exciting, and yet absolutely terrifying for me.  My baby, my 45 pound baby, is growing up.

In honor of this milestone I did her 1st day of school pictures early.  We headed down to the school and snapped away.  So, to my beautiful daughter…I love you, and wish you all the luck in the world.

Pay no attention to some of the brick work,  some places look funny because I got rid of the schools name for privacy reasons.

I couldn’t help staying up way past my normal bedtime working on these and then start again at 5:30 this morning, I’m in love! What a remarkable young lady Miss A is. This girl does it all. Hauling around her gear, building her own jumps, feeding the pigs and goats….she’s amazing, and I’d say stunningly beautiful as well.

Daddy left for Africa and will be gone for 3 months.  The two of Ellie and Dad are from the day he left.  Makes me sad.  The other one is Ellie spending some quality time with Papa before we came home from Minnesota.

 1st time entering a I Heart Faces contest and the theme is purple…
I mean how could I resist this? I said “El, go run in the rain and look for a rainbow”. She ran out there and quickly ran back under the awning and realized that it would be best if she put on her gear. Which was fine with me because really, could she be any cuter?
